I SEA STRIPES

So, we are back after Easter and we have one more big project to do.. STRIPES is the title and its a swatch making project..yey ..! I picked tropical fish as my source and we were given a colour story, here are some pictures..
The cover

Here are some pictures of the swatches I was doing

This is my mood board and the colour story I was given.

next we had to do eight final small swatches and then an A3 final one of our choice.

We had to do a presentation with our boards this morning to explain what we did, it was quite nerveracking but a good experience for the future.

The final swatch, I like this swatch because its true to the source of the fish as the texture of the net with latex on it really feels fishey!
Overall this project was very good in terms of learning more about fabric manipulations, I experimented with techniques and materials that otherwise I may not have had the opportunity to do.  It was very enjoyable.

Now time for the Fashion Show!!!!!!! I have been assigned the job of a dresser so I'll be backstage I'm very excited!! :)

Then assesments then SUMMER.. :)

Easter project,, My house.

The Easter project was based on our home environment so I had alot of fun going around my area finding primary research..I took photos and made swatches inspired by those pictures.
Here are a few of the swatches I did.

this one was inspired by gates..

inspired by a stone wall.. very interesting and a knew technique i did was using a wire coolong rack and stuffing the material through the holes, then stuffed the holes with wadding and backed it twice with heavy vileen.  LOVE the end result with this!

inspired by glass crystal.. using bubble wrap and plastic.

same technique with the collonh rack only not stuffing it. this was to represent water in the river.

inspired by the cherry blossoms in my back garden.

also from the cherry blossoms.  I used chiffon to capture the light airy effect of the cherry blossoms and had fun with it.  chiffon is hard to use but worth it!

I had alot of fun with this project and expiremented with knew techniques like pin tucking.
It was a good opportunity to learn more about different kinds of materials that are available.

Finished piece..

After ALOT of work and fun with it at the same time..  I finally got my finished piece done and I have to say im very happy with it, take a look..

Time for Easter now :)
