last week before christmas..

At the start of the week i did manage to do the prints from the cut out cardboard..which i really like, the fact that every line in the corigated cardboard comes out in the print gives it a really interesting effect!
The rest of this week has been taken up with organizing my space, taking everything down to put in a portfolio for the presentation and also deciding what to display on my wall for the assesment.  It was hard to decide but i think i came up with a solution im happy with, i picked only a few, five or six pieces to show as i think they best represent what my work has been about!
  So long for now..

monday 6th - friday 10th..

this week i made a print in wax and also in clay using cutout cardboard, i like how it turned out! it was a bit messy with the hot wax but it worked out :) then i also did prints with a wood cut, in black and gold (the colours iv been sticking with for a while) i want to try to get a print done with ink with the cut out cardboard also to see how it turns out! everyone is just trying to get organised before the holidays!! only one week left :)

making progress.. only two weeks 'till the holidays!!

this past week iv been working alot with corrigated cardboard. the textures get interesting when you take off the top layer of the paper and then your left with the 'ribbed' cardboard inside..so i used that to my advantage and made a big piece with that! i also got my essay totally done..woohoo..
so.. back to the work, i have also been playing alot further with the latex and more with the spraypaint.. putting black paint into the latex and pouring onto the tops of the cans gives a lovely effect when you peel it off, and as someone pointed out they actually look like hoop earings!!..interesting! next week im hoping to be all about clay and casting however the workshops are finishing (i think) so maybe it wont work out but we shall see!!!

this week on the urban environment..

this week i have been working alot with spraypaint, making and playing around with the colours of the cans, gold ,silver and black. i have been doing prints and focusing on the shapes of the top of the cans, and also figured out(quite late) that the shape of the ring pull is already on the top of the can.. i am fascinated with slashing, cutting, laying of the materials so i will be doing lots of that over the next week! ... ..

updates..

This week I have been playing around with the scale of the ringpulls and combining the can and the ringpull together.. I have also been working on photoshop alot and getting inspiration from that.  Photoshop is fun if you know how to work it but i'm still learning! I'm working on a woodcut aswell to do a print with!

my progress...after finally realising how to get back on to my blog..

Over the past while I've been working on different aspects of urban decay but focussing mainly on regeneration.. so after making the necklace made out of ringpulls i went back to basics to simply drawing the ringpulls..drawing them in different ways differebt medias aswell..im getting kind of bored with it but il keep going for a while and see what i can discover!

Meadhbhs Urban Decay

This week I have been working on the regeneration of decayed objects to make then into something beautiful.  i have alot of ideas of  what i can take which would be usually associated with decay, to use them to make something fashionable.  I took old jeans and slashed them to pieces.. then used safety pins to hold them together, I also had an old t-shirt and bleached them (it was a bit messy to begin with), then with another t-shirt I drew graffitti and made the old t-shirt look desirable again! I'm also working on at the moment using ALOT of ring pulls (from the tops of cans) and making a shiney new piece of jewellary with them, its taking a while but I want to make the ring pulls look like something that someone would want to buy.. just to prove my point that old decayed objects can be regenerated into new and desirable.
